I figured this would only take a couple of hours. I forgot, however, to factor in at least an hour of dithering about what to do with the fur and the texture. It ended up taking about three, not counting time wasted web-surfing.
So let's crunch some numbers.
Initial sketch - let's say two hours.
Touch-ups and flats - an hour and a half.
Final colors - three hours.
So, about six hours. Gives me a good baseline for determining costs for commissions.
